Carmen Mardonez (b. 1988) is a Chilean textile artist based in Oxford, UK. She relocated to the UK in 2023 after living and working in Los Angeles from 2017, where she developed an international exhibition profile across the United States and Europe.
Mardonez studied History and Arts at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and holds a Master’s degree in Community Psychology from the University of Chile. Her interdisciplinary academic background informs a career that spans visual art, research and community-focused practice.
Her work has been exhibited internationally in the United States, the UK and Europe. Recent exhibitions include Carmen Mardonez I Textildermy, TM Gallery and Hannah Payne Art at COLLECT (February 2026), Identity (Verduyn, Belgium, 2025); Glimmers and Hues (John Wayne Airport, Orange County, CA, 2024); IN/BETWEEN/NESS: Women Tales from Latin America (Somers Gallery, London, 2024); Considering January (Patricia Sweetow Gallery, Los Angeles, 2024); Textildermy (solo exhibition, Emma Gray HQ, Los Angeles, 2023); and In Community: Arts at Blue Roof (USC Fisher Museum of Art, Los Angeles, 2023).
Mardonez has received support from a range of grants, scholarships and residencies, including a fully funded four-month artist residency at Quinn Emanuel, Los Angeles. Her work is held in private and institutional collections in the United States and the UK.
